⚡ Short answer
Start with a sales dashboard in Power BI, an SQL analysis of an e-commerce database and an Excel HR attrition report, then add one Python project. Use free datasets from Kaggle or data.gov.in, and present each project with a clear business question, your process and the insight.
What makes a good project
What recruiters look for in a beginner project
A project is proof you can do the job. The best ones share these traits.
✓ Starts with a real business question, not just "I analysed a dataset"
✓ Uses messy, realistic data that needed cleaning
✓ Shows the right tool for the job: SQL, Excel, Power BI or Python
✓ Ends with clear insights and a recommendation
✓ Is published on GitHub or a portfolio with a short write-up

✕ Using only the Titanic or Iris dataset that everyone else uses.
✕ Copying a tutorial project without changing the question or approach.
✕ Dashboards crammed with 15 charts and no clear message.
✕ No write-up, so the recruiter cannot tell what you actually did.
FAQs
Beginner project questions, answered
How many projects do I need to get a data analyst job?
Three or four strong, end-to-end projects covering SQL, a BI tool and Excel or Python are usually enough for fresher roles.
Can I use Kaggle datasets in my portfolio?
Yes, as long as the licence allows it. Make the project original by asking your own business question.
Where should I publish my projects?
GitHub for code and files, Tableau Public or screenshots for dashboards, and a short LinkedIn post for visibility.
Should I do projects before or after learning all the tools?
During. Build a small project after each tool; it makes learning stick and grows your portfolio as you go.
Do I need Python for beginner projects?
No. Strong Excel, SQL and Power BI projects are enough to start. Add one Python project when you are ready.
Does your course include real projects?
Yes. Every module includes hands-on work, plus real-time capstone projects reviewed by trainers.
